Assalamualaikum and Hi!

I have a fishing trip to Lakshadweep in April. Would appreciate if anyone could spare some pointers on fishing experience, popping and jigging especially. What is the suitable equipment for popping and jigging as I have read some of the members trip report, saying that it's kind of hard to expect the 'big one' nowdays due to overfishing. And some of it saying that it hardly take popper and stickbait!

I'll be staying in Kadhmat. Fishing area will be around Kadhmat, Amini and also Pitty bank..

what equipment do you have at the moment ?
jeen will be able to help you out regarding areas you need to fish

currently we have prepared PE6-8 popping rod paired with 6000 and 12000 reel. As for jigging we do prepare heavy and light gears as well. PE2-4, PE4-6 jigging rod paired with reels ranging from 2500 to 10000. We will bring along casting and fly sets for flats.

Your set up looks good. Kadamat where you are staying is the right place to be for arranging a boat for popping and jigging trips. Please look for Ali, who is also the sports manager in the Kadamat resort. He has his own boats and also guides for Gt popping trips. April is a good time for big Gts. The fishing is hard with very few bites but you stand a good chance of hooking a 50 +.
Jigging is pretty good . If you dont mind taking a 6 hour boat ride you can reach distant islands like Bitra where action could be insane. Talk to Ali when you are there and take care .
