Thanks everyone,

For the past two weeks I couldn't spend much time to fish due to loads of work assigned to me. Spend some time fishing today morning in the harbour and I landed a Barracuda estimated to about 8 pounds. This is my first catch.

I had taken a couple of pictures, don't know how it came up (I don't have a digi cam).

Thanks,
LF

Thanks again everyone,

I was using a Yozuri hydro magnum deep diver lure in translucent blue.
I went there in the morning around 06:45 AM and the water was clear and calm. I heard that for a GT, water should be clear and rough. Also there was not any kind of GT action, so I took the deep diver thinking of barramundi.

A guy in the harbour said, it was not correct to target barramundi at that time with a plug and asked me to change the place and use the same lure as a school of small GTs entered that place the previous day and also someone had caught a 30 lbs barracuda the previous day. So I changed the place and was using a moderate fast retrieve with that plug and in the second cast at about 07:00 AM a barracuda hit my plug at the bottom of my foot.

I had him for 5 minutes with a light drag, and soon he got tired and came to the surface. I gave the fish to the guy who helped me in the harbour, he sold it to someone before I made another couple of casts.

If it was a GT, I sure would have released him.

Thanks,
LF

Hi LF,

I have caught GT in water that is very close to still.

Who is this “Guy in the Harbour”? is he a Barramundi fisherman, perhaps the reason he asked you to change your lure and target GT’s was because he was afraid you would catch the Barra

Fred,

If that is a 6lb GT then I must have broken the GT world record a long time ago…the fish in the picture is more like a 2 pounder mate

The fish I am referring to was the 30lb looking fish you said was 90lbs caught by one of your mates .

Regards,

Bobby

Hey Freddy,

Here's a word from the makers of your Nash Scale, Ma and Pa Kettle..

Check out this link it's hillarous, with maths like that no wonder, make sure you have speakers and watch the whole clip.

Hi Guys,

Here's a picture of the all tackle world record GT, I got it from the Nov/Dec 2006 IGFA bi-monthly newsletter International Angler, the guy figured again in the Jan/Feb edition. If I am not mistaken,I think one of our members wifes also figures with the featherback:

Bobby,

A couple of Rapala X Rap lure are sitting on my desk now with the colours as per your advise. Man they look very realistic, will swim them out soon. Thanks again for the advise.

I also received a couple of Yozuri surface Bull GT poppers, Bomber lures and few others today. Let us see if I am having success with these proven lures. The water was very clear all of the last weekend, so I am hoping for a good report soon.

Thanks,
Lure Fisherman

All the Best LF, happy hunting..

Check out the Moon phases when you go out, I have found fishing a week to the full moon to two days after the best, gets better as you go towards the full moon. 2 days before the fullmoon seems to work the best for me.

Yes agree wiith Fred about the 2 days after, they are certainly not as productive as the days before, but better than other days

Some people apply this to the new moon as well, days to Amavasia, this should work as well, however I favour the full moon.
