With no water bodies around that I know of, Khadakwasla was the only place I could think of to get the hook wet... :)

So here's my first catch after the angler in me has awoken..

Image

Used earthworm as bait on a peacock feather float. Hope this fish brings me luck for future trips. :)

Congrats brother, wish you many many more, hey wat say this weekend lets all hit jagtap dairy, I know most of us wont fancy tilapia, but they do give a decent run considering the average size there is a kg. Aditya and 3 of his friends went the other day and each caught one at least.

@hunterjack
Knife fish are natives. There is another cousin of this "Notopterus chitala." up north, which grows much bigger.

Good going mate,

A lovely fish. Congratulations. I do not know for sure but the color of the fish does not look right. The shade is a bit too dark. Is it due to water ?

Regards,

Ali. :-)

yes alibhai.... its the water...there are small ponds that have formed outside the dam wall. this was in the aftermath of the dam burst in the 60's. these ponds are stagnant all through the year except monsoons.
locally the fish is called "chaalate"

I have even caught a more Silver knife fish from the pond, and it was bigger than this one. It was post monsoon, when the ponds were flooded. So even I'm assuming it must be due to the water parameters.
