Myself, Rajat, Geeta and Allen (Along with his pet Mack) decided to camp beside the sea to welcome the new year and do something we like most ie. Fishing. Making a rather late start on 31st we were able to reach the destination as the sun was sliding down the horizon. Making haste, as we all wanted to hit the water, we bundled all our goods in rooms we had previously hired and started making our rods. There was no electricity at that time and suddenly I heard some commotion from Rajats room. Rajat called me in a very agitated voice and ask me to look whether there was a Tarantula in his room. (Tarantula on west coast of India

). There was a unusually big spider and after some tries it was pinned down under a glass and the rest was easy.

Very thoughtfully, Rajat has arranged some bait and we all started fishing immediately reaching the shore. Only cat fishes were taking our bait and we caught many of them. We also tried some spinning and saw some Barra action but nothing took the lure. After having food, we again started fishing. Allan started the New Year by catching a good size Tiger Fish at 00.04 hours and we all have to satisfy our self with cat catfishes only

. The next day also we fished as much as we can but the only thing hitting our baits was Cats.
Allen’s new year fish.
My self and Allan called it a day when tide went down (It was very late in night) but Rajat has other Ideas. He was catching lot of cats but as we were walking past him, he informed that he is going to catch something. Wishing him good luck, we went to sleep. I was just closing my eyes when I heard Rajat shouting and going over to them, I was greeted by the sight of first serious fish of the trip, a nice Sand Shark.
Rajat,s First….Catch
And Release..
Buoyed by the success of Rajats catch we decided that next day we will try for sand sharks and were rewarded as the tide was coming in. First I landed a good size Sandy and within no time Allan also hooked and landed three of them. As the tide was receding we were rewarded watching lot of Sand Sharks feeding in very shallow water. One of them was really very big and we desperately tried to hook it but without success.

All in all, it was a very enjoyable and relaxed trip where despite the lure of trolling we did only beach fishing and all of us were rewarded with good fishes…
Hope to continue our good luck in this new year…
Regards and tight lines..
