When we read the stories, we just imagine ourself in the position of the hero in the story and feel the excitement.
Awaiting for the excitement.
The first 3 pictures were caught during summer. This is when the Salmon and Trout are in deeper / cooler waters 50 feet +. We were using a fishing finder and using spoons with a downrigger to set the dept for trolling.
The 4 th picture is a Chinook Salmon - Male caught in late september. Once the water temperature falls the salmon come in hundreds from the lake to the river where they were born to spawn, they have a life of around 4 - 5 years if i am not mistaken, once they spawn they die. Fishing is only permitted from the mouth of the river till a kilometer or two upriver. After that its spawning grounds for the salmon.
Salmon are great fighters. The one in the last picture is a 20 LB catch. Gave me a good 15 mins of power bursts. Bait used were row bags (Eggs of Salmon or trout tied in a row bag). Line 12 - 14 lbs.
I lived in Canada for 7 years and enjoyed the fishing in Ontario - 1000's of untouched lakes and rivers and lots of freshwater species to fish. Now its fishing in Powai and a few times at the Cauvery River, Karnataka. Two great fishing spots.
