I finally got my hands on an Okuma Salina thanks to a friend who carried it down for me



It's extremely light for it's capacity and seems solidly built. I'm yet to test it on a big fish though

The only things I didnt like are,

1. The Ergo Grip handle knob feels too big, however this is personal preference.

2. The part below the line roller connecting the bail arm to the reel seems less than solid, time will tell.

On quality & reliability front how are Quantun "Boca PT's" and "Cabo PT's" reels rated? What is the reputation of Quantum products in general ? Any suggestions ? I want to get a Quantum Spinning Reel Boca or Cabo [14 lb / 240 mts]. But I want to be sure on the quality & reliablity front before I buy.

Ashok, both reels are tried and trusted. I would not hesitate in buying either of them.

Hi Bops,

I am looking to buy one (Model SA-55) mainly to fish light plastic swimmiers from the surf.
How good does it level wind, planning to go with 30 lb power pro braid. Any suggestions?

Maruthu, the one I have will be getting a real work out very soon. Will let you know how it goes......

For light plastic swimmers one size smaller will be better, for surf fishing I suggest one size larger than the SA-55.

I have the 55 and it takes exactly 300 yards of 20lb suffix performance braid. This braid looks good. More reports later.
