Just back from a fishing trip at vengurla.
1) Trawled from 5 am to 11 pm
2) The water was a bit choppy and dark blue green in colour
3) used Rappla lures
well most importantly I caught nothing much, I got a big hit but lost the fish, landed a 6 pound snapper close to shore and lost one out in the deep. There we no sign of GT or the barras infact there was no sign of anyhting !! expect a snapper. I was told that this is the worst time of the year to fish. I have done this season for the second time and last time went back without a single hit !!
regards
Dean

Hi Dean,

It starts getting Choppy, but other than that it is fine. Noticed that the choppiness in the water tends to affect the water quality and that gets worse towards May - June where the water around Bombay gets red-brown and fishing is not be so good because of this poor water, especially with lures. Other than that all is good. I have found the worst months to fish around Bombay is November – December, I have got this theory the fish move further down south during that time. A couple of times I fished 2 weeks in and around the Bombay coast in December, even did some blue water trolling but got nothing. However when I moved down south towards Goa the fishing was simply fantastic.

I have been hearing fantastic reports about the fishing between the Bombay – Goa stretch over the last two weeks and one GT that was landed was a 35KG plus specimen.

Perhaps you just picked the wrong day.

Regards,

Bobby
