Hi Raj,
First thing would be what you want to target and what area you will be fishing.
Soft Plastic:
What ever fishing you do you will get more strikes if you match the hatch......so try to imitate the bait fish in that area. I tend to like plastic baits which look more natural in colour than the bright colours
that being said bright colours needs to be used in dirty murky water as light natural colours wont work best.
Thumb rule for soft plastic is to use the right jig head to match the depth you fish.......1/8th oz jig head is best for upto 4 meters water and 1/6 or 1/4 th if you are in a bit of deeper water
Hard Body:
you cant go past halco lures for smaller pelagics and Rapala Taildancer TDD9 is a universal lure that wil land many species.
Idea is to fan cast an area with one colour and if not much luck change next colour and fan cast again.....if not much luck just move around a bit and look for a bit of structures........Most fish seem to be more active close to shores during sunrise and sunset.
