Went to kanyakumari in search of the monster GT which i lost 2 months back. For the first two days the water was very muddy along my favorite fishing spot. All the casting efforts went in vain. Finally the prayers were answered on the fourth day and the water cleared up. On the fourth cast got a strike, but my bad luck prevailed as i lost a good sized GT.

Next day morning again we hit the beach and immediately landed a small GT around 1.5Kg. Then again I lost a good sized GT. Finally I landed this beauty. Afterwards there were no bites.

The search for the monster continues...

Thanks to everyone. Lure used is Halco Laserpro. I got enlightened and I now started using lures 99% of the time. GT loves to catch the fast moving lures.

I have not used spoons much and I have not got any thing with spoons. In my experience Laserpro and Roosta popper from Halco works best.
If fishes are there Laserpro cannot miss. I wanted to try Max from Halco this time but because of unavailability I didn't.
Fellow anglers will surely help with your query.

Mario,

I have checked with several people and they seem to feel that a GT on a Halco metal lure (Twisty etc.) would be a bycatch i.e. no one seems to specifically target GTs with metal lures.

My personal experience has shown that at a place that was full of GTs and queenfish, only the latter seemed to hit the metal lures. All the GTs were caught on bibbed minnows (Laser Pro/Scorpion etc.).

However, I suggest that you give it a try .. if nothing else, you may get a hit from another species.

Regards,
Kingfish

Thanks Kingfish. It was just a doubt in my mind because i saw a clip on Utube, anyways there are no such sightings of Gt's or Queens around mumbai.
