here are some more barras caught in Goa, most of the hits were on the receding tide and .. they just love the fire tiger rapala. The Thread fin has yet come into a complete swing, just a few catches that I have come across.
cheers

How big are the couda's ? The only ones I ever seem to bag off the beach are less than a kilo but I did hear about a girl getting her hand torn up pretty badly whilst swimming by what sounds to me like a big couda last year so I suspect that the bigger fish are there.

Dean,

Can you please tell what TYPE and SIZE of rapala were you using for those barracudas. Was it a Magnum CountDown?

I was fishing the harbour (there were so many barracudas) with a Rapala Super Shad Rap in Fire Tiger at Dusk - No Luck with that. But they were hitting the X Rap (Plastic Lure), but it gets puctured.

Any info on the Retrieval speed will also be of great help to me.

Thanks,
LF

I prefer the standard unjointed verion with upgraded (a size saller but 4x wire) hooks.
B16JXBS is my favorite barra colour with B16JXSI04 coming a close second - although looking at that chart, I quite fancy B16JCC5 and B16JPYRG as well.

Oh yes, you can get them a lot cheaper than that if you shop around.

Were you looking in y lure box Bops ?

Wasn't that discoloured/mauled white plug you showed me, a Bomber long A?

Hey lure_fisherman,

I've caught barra on pretty much everything. From big CD22's to small Halco L160's. From 3 meters of water to 90 meters of water. I've had them on surface poppers, jigs and on bait as well. I've had a few big fish and honestly...... I was very disappointed with the fight they put up. But they're great fish to photograph

I recently had one go for my hand as I was leadering the fish at the side of the boat.

Regards,

Mighty Marlin.

you are right about the disappointing fight of a barra at least i my experience .. I have caught loads of them and they all come to the boat like a dog at whistle. Thou there are a few rare instances that they put on half a fight. .. but they are pretty photogenic but smell horrible .. bad breath I say !!
cheers
Dean
