I am back at my favorite fishing spot near kanyakumari. This time I decided to use only lures whatever be the results. It was a constant thorn in my thought that i has not yet landed a fish using lures. The local fishermans sarcastic laughter whenever they see the lures has always added insult to my injury.
I started popping and on my third cast, i realed in near to the rocks and was about the lift the popper up, suddenly the popper disappeared and the reel started screaming violently. I immediately recogonized it was a GT and it reeled almost 200 meters of line on high drag. It was nothing like whatever i have experienced before. After 10 min the fish was very near but still I have not glimpsed it, then this unfortunate thing happened. On its fifth run it dragged the braided line over a rock and what i thought and feared happened, the line snapped

. Though I lost the fish the fight itselft was worth it. I lost my only popper i had ( first time to a fish rest all to rocks

) The fish should be around 12-15 kgs.
It took a while to come out of the disaster and i tried casting with a laserpro lure. Again the reel started singing and this time i was very cautious and landed this one.
It weighed 4.4 kg. Though it gave a good fight it faided when compared to the lost one.
Next day again we hit the beach and started casting with the laser pro lure. Within few casts the real started singing again. After a few minutes of tug of war the fish surfaced and it was very different to what i have caught till that time. It was huge and soon it displayed its arial abilities. I cannot control my joy, it will be my first bara bara. But its arial capabilities win its life, thought i striked well the lure came of its mouth when it shaked its head violently in air.
Again on the second cast the reel sang and the same tug of war continued. This time again the arial display started and in another few minutes i landed my first Bara Bara. It was a little smaller compred to the first one.
When the celebrations are over i casted again and i felt the familiar pull. It was a GT again and landed this one quickly.
For the next 2 days only bait fishes flew around the lure whenever it came nearby. The local fisher man made sure not to let the big guys nearby by placing net all over the place with all kinds of trapping patterns known to them.
