It was four months since i did sea fishing  Finally i managed to get leave for a week  and went to kanyakumari (my native place) from bangalore in my Thunderbird  .

After reaching, next day early morning we hit the beach and were very disappointed, since the sea was very rough. Evening again we tried and landed my first grouper. It did gave a decent fight. After that we didn't got any hit and called it a day.

Next day evening again we tried and landed this beauty.

My Brother's first catch.

This time we didn't have much success with trevally. Rest of the days it was raining and thunder stroms, so we were unable to do fishing.

Again i left to Bangalore in my Tunderbird with sweet memories.

Nice Fish Venkat, who is that young fella holding the rod at the back in the first pic? In that Pic he reminded me of one of those old time fishing pictures of the Raj

Hi Venkat what rod and reel were you using? The reel seemd to me like a shimano hyperloop 4000 or a 6000.

Thanks for every one.

@ Bobby: He (Lingesh) is my neighbour and my dearest companion.

@ Dezz: I have tried poppers, jig tails, Metal lures, laser pro lures etc many a times in the same place with out any success.
The bottom is rocky so i have lost a plenty over there. Almost all the fish i caught were on baits.
For trevelly achovy is the best bait. we normally use cut saradine. This time we tried live baiting. The grouper and trevelly were caught on a live lady fish, u can see the hook in the grouper's mouth.
Pery was caught on a live trevally.

Hmm. Its amazing, the groupers have given me a tough time. I was able to land only one from the rocks so far. They are a very adamant fish and never give up easily. What I like is the way they ambush their prey. Once I saw a baby grouper right below my feet, it moved with sheer stealth and gulped down a small tiny fish in a flash even before I could blink.

DeZZ

Ya Dezz, the groupers are very tough fish. The locals also fish with handline at the same place. whenever the hook gets stuck in a rock, first they suspect it to be a grouper.

chris, Venky.. will inform you in advance. you can even start on a saturday morning and reach afternoon and we can go into the sea by evening as we have to be back by latest 6PM as our boat is docked at Port. Or hire a Tsunami boat and come back anytime we want.
