Hello all, on be-half of me and my dad I would very much like to know where to go sea fish around mumbai. For me the Mangrove jack seems like a good fish to target, because many of the lures I have can be used to target it. So can you please tell me where to fish and how :D Also what lures are "must haves" :?:.
Thank for your time and tight lines,
A.R.M. :D
ps ( I have left open a poll, should I target MJs or an other fish, if you answer other fish please tell the name of the fish in your post and tackle used to catch it. )

The best fish to target from the shore of mumbai are Barra, Ravas, grouper and also MJ.

For Barra... use sub surface lures and plastic lures (Softies)

For Ravas .... use spoons or poppers

For MJs use Lures (Best is fire tiger) and plastic lures.

Regards,

Ali..

So for barras rapala sub walk? or are you talking crank baits?
also for MJs what is the depth I should run crank baits, would a rapala floating original in fire tiger be a good "home base lure" also can you suggest some salt water plastics and rigs ( Are you talking about swim baits or worms ect?) [smilie=huh-ani.gif]
Thanks for the help and tight lines,
A.R.M. :o :-) :D

Hi ARM,

All Mj's hits will come very close to from where you are spinning, if that place is rocky with some sort of dropoff.
They stay very close to the rocks to cash on opportunity to feed on the crabs that get washed down with the tide.

At times I have noticed that they will ignore a lure or just chase it down without hitting it. Same time, same place and same lure the next day I got hit on each cast and landed about 20 + mj's.

So sorry mate.. cant really tell you what lure will get you a MJ.. keep casting till you hook. However, floating rapala F7 in RH and fire tiger seem to work pretty well.

for Barra's, red head is what I'll use.

Cheers .. Santosh
