Your main target species will be Threadfin Salmon (Ravas) and Barramundi (Channak) with the smaller but distictly pugnatious Mangrove Jacks as a third option.
Those terms as well as your proposed location should give you lots of search options.
My understanding of drop shot fishing inSA is that it's rather different to drop shot fishing in the rest of the world with fish like GT's being targeted. I'd be fascinated to know a bit more about the set-ups that you guys use as what little I've heared comes from a single conversation.

hi all

kenl, im not sure about dropshot outside south africa, but it took off here just over 2 years ago, with anglers mostly using the berkley range of soft plastics, minnows, sandworms, etc. we rig it with a weighted hook, and spin

In the US, drop dhotting involves one or more hooks tied directy to the mainline with small soft plastics attached. The mainline then continuedsdown and terminates at a small weight ot drop shot. The whole lot is then jigged vertically from a boat.
It's considered to be a finesse method so I was a little suprised to hear that drop shotting is used to catch big saltwater species in SA. From your description it sounds like you're refering to pretty standard jig head and soft plastic tactics as drop shotting.

yes, its a fairly new facet here, and recently anglers have been catching quite big saltwater species, mostly gt's and other specimen of kingfish, but a wide variety of fish is caught on dropshot. im off to India tomorrow.
