hi alibhai...

this is darryl from pune.i suppose you are asking about livelining an eel.

you would need to open the eels mouth and put a longshanked hook in and bring the hook tip out thru the gullet , meaning the hook will be facing bottom.

(a key tip : you know how terribly live eels squirm, even worse when you try to hook them. hence put them for a few minutes or so on some ice, this will make them a bit limp and will allow you to hook them without much resistance and tangling of the line.)

you would need to put a rubberband on the eels mouth , so that it does not chew through the line later(also thats why i mentioned about using a longshanked hook.)

lastly you would need to set a bobbing float like thermocol or so, so that the eel does not swim to any structure and snag or tangle your line..

you could set the float to the depth you require, this way you will know more or less where the eel is and what it is upto..

hope i have explained it clearly..

btw... what fish are you targeting.. i presume you would use this set up for salt water fishing....

hope it does well for you..!

cheers!

Hi Hamour,

I can imagine this set up is pretty effective with a float. Sounds interesting and something I must try next season. 8)

Alibhai ,

my name is darryl.

"this is darryl from pune"

sorry abt the sign off .." the vagabond by r.l. stevenson . " its a poem.. a nice one for us outdoorsmen..

The Vagabond

Give to me the life I love,
Let the lave go by me,
Give the jolly heaven above
And the byway nigh me.
Bed in the bush with stars to see,
Bread I dip in the river -
There's the life for a man like me,
There's the life for ever.

Let the blow fall soon or late,
Let what will be o'er me;
Give the face of earth around
And the road before me.
Wealth I seek not, hope nor love,
Nor a friend to know me;
All I seek, the heaven above
And the road below me.

Or let autumn fall on me
Where afield I linger,
Silencing the bird on tree,
Biting the blue finger.
White as meal the frosty field -
Warm the fireside haven -
Not to autumn will I yield,
Not to winter even!

Let the blow fall soon or late,
Let what will be o'er me;
Give the face of earth around,
And the road before me.
Wealth I ask not, hope nor love,
Nor a friend to know me;
All I ask, the heaven above
And the road below me.

Robert Louis Stevenson

hahahaha.... neil... only as of now... only as of now...

i do look forward to love , hope and wealth in that order, and definitely friends to know me.. whats life without all this..

gee , im waxing sentimentally philosophical.. sorry.

truth be told i like the poem for the mental imagery it creates in ones mind and the stirring in your heart, to just get out of doors on paths less traveled...

yup and see you soon.. when can we meet ?

btw.. heard you were looking to get yourself a kayak..?

there is a chap here in pune...
