hi again guys

i forgot to mention this fish happened to give me the toughest and longest fight i have experienced so far, all of twenty menutes, a final leap and five runs after i nearly had him pulled in the first time and it turned out to be a he, must have been the testosterone i guess, all that power

Can you elaborate on tactics and tackles used to land this fish?

Regards,

Ali.

hi guys

i don't particularly practice any tactics other than cast out the x raps where the activity is seen most frequently and then retreive varying the retreive now and then holding the rod tip as low as posssible to let the lur dive as much as possible.

Hi Vincent,

Were these fish feeding on top water, did you see any feeding?

Bobby

yes bobby

there was and usually is at least some moderate amount of top water activity, though i have come to believe it is not at all necessary to see it during the season when you know they have been around and if around there is some amount however minimal of top water activity to be seen

When Ravas are feeding, there is nothing like moderate activity, it is like small fishes flying all around and least to say it is much more than moderate.

Ali.

I agree with you sir Angler Ali, but what i meant is there need not be any surface activity at all, bcause what i see here daily is the local fishermen in small canoes having caught at least a ton of them this season with little or no surface activity seen at that time, there is a lot of boat traffic and all the fish seemed to be hooked near the bottom with no surface activity unti they were hooked and then you would see a few spectacular leaps in to the air and 4 times out of ten , i think they get away and escape with another lesson learnt,ie don't eat creatures dangling at the end of a string next time

This place is very near to Cochin city, you have to travel 25 km towards Munambam Beach from Ernakulam town through vypin island. There is a tourist spot named Cherai beach, from there you have to travel 8 km north you will find beautiful estuary the Munambam Beach. Its the main location where you can spot Dolphins and catch Threadfins in season, i think from November to April... i guess so.. my location is just 8 km from this spot. tried my luck but no success till this time an a new comer and usually go fishing on Sundays, we tried 3 to 4 Sundays from December 2011.

The Xrap SXR 14 is doing wonders. All species seem to love it.
