I don't think strong braid is the answer. In fact it will be worse than mono on rocks. I suggest you use a leader, a very strong leader. Either of mono or flouro. I normally have a 20lbs braid main line and then a 30lbs mono/flouro leader that is about 18 inches long. I guess for sea fishing you need to multiply these by 3 at least.

As you have mentioned that only 60 to 100 yards of 100 lb of braid is what you need, I'll assume that you just want to yank the fish once hooked. If this is true, mono of 40 or 50 lb is cheap and more than enough of the inshore fish.

However, if you want to cast your lure a fair distance, go in for 20 to 40 lb braid, with 50 to 80 lb mono or flouro leader. You can also use 2' - 2 1/2' of wire leader.

If you still need 100 lb braid, I have nice braid (125 yard) @ 1500 INR

hi merwyn,

Forget about fireline or power pro if you are fishing over rocks and go with tuf line of at least 50lb which has far more abrasion resistance than other braids. And go with what santosh say and tie a decent flourcarbon leader on that is as long as possible for the rod in use.

This set up will give you more hook ups, longer casts, ability to use lighter lures and more fishing pleasure than using heavy mono.

all the best, Scott
