I know I posted a quick intro around the time of Bops getting started, but I think I should update my biog, especially with regard to you guys finding out more about me and how I intend to work in India.
I've visited India every year for the last 9 years now, for varying lengths of time, from a 2 weeker in Goa through to 12 weeks travelling throughout Maharastra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
I prefer to be in the hills, especially in Karnataka; walking in the wilderness, checking out rivers and streams etc. malvalli is my most favourite part of the country, and Mysore is my favourite city.
I only went to the North once. Visited Delhi, Dehra Dun, Mussorie, Jaipur, Haridwar, Pushkar and tried to fish in Corbett NP, without success.
Most of my time in India seems to be spent arguing about politics and corruption. In fact, one of the committee members of the malvalli Wildlife Society, on hearing me in debate, said:
"You should run for the Karnataka State elections. Indian politics needs someone who understands the issues and can change people's attitudes in the way you can."
My main hope in India is that some of the anglers I know will one day become politicians and will not forget the way they feel when presented with a polluted river. One day a change will come.
On a more personal note, I have worked as a musician for most of my adult life. The last 15 years, I've also been working as a teacher and the last 8 years, I've slowly built a career as a photojournalist.
Recently, I have branched out of photojournalism into film. My company produces top quality angling films on DVD for the European market.
I would like to produce a film about some of the issues affecting Indian rivers, which will be distributed for free in schools. Hopefully, with the help of some of you, it will happen sooner rather than (too much) later.
