Hi, to all fishing enthusiasts,

I apologize for not doing the introduction earlier. I was introduced to this site by an Orkut friend Santosh. My child hood was spent rooming all over India, having learned so many languages I have forgotten my own mother tongue Bengali. My first experience of fishing was with my father at a picnic spot near Shillong Megalaya late 70’s. My father and his British friends were angling for mahseers using bamboo rods. And booom!!!! My father started his battle with one which he still claims to be over 70lbs. Boy was I spooked seeing that size. Well that time no one was practicing catch and release in this part of the world so we had it for dinner.

Through out my adolescence I used to sneak out of school do little fishing mostly plugging for small fishes with line tied to a cane or any stick available. Managalore, Aligarh, kerela, Alibaug, Revdanda, Shillong, Guahati, then Calcutta to name a few places.

I actually started sport fishing about 2 years ago. I my line of work I have deal with Ceo, doctors etc, troubleshooting their Pocket Pc synchronizing with Ms Exchange server. I get an opportunity to look in their calendar info etc. So finding any appointment with fishing would give me reason to strike a conversation with them. Thus seeing there Pics of marline, dolphins, bass, perch etc. Got me all exited!!! In the process got big time conned at the shops around Masjit station. As the saying goes Ones Bitten always shy. I started ordering my gear from US after one of my customer/friend suggested.

I then got married and what a luck!!! My father-in-law and his Brother-In-Law’s are into sport fishing in Goa too. So it started my fishing journey. All I can sumize for this introduction I am still learning the skill set for being a good angler. However I don’t know if I can ever come to par with my wife’s rate of hook setting.

I would really appreciate if I can get some locations to fish around Maharashtra.

Regards,
Tathagata.

Your Dad sounds really cool.

I wish I'd been old enough to go fishing with my Pa when we lived in Africa.
His stories of tiger fish, tilapia and catfish inspired me to get into fishing.

Your wife likes fishing? Now that is COOL!

I took my lass fishing back in England.
She never hooked anything, but had plenty of follows and had a chub attack the tiny plug almost at her feet. Her eyes almost popped out of her head and she screamed!!!

All the best with everything.
