Welcome to the Forum in all it's glory! Hope you enjoy your days here. You certainly have chosen the right place to live and hone your angling skills. And incase you don't know it already you are surrounded by fertile waters which have choice fish swimming around fleeing from guys like Gavin! Seriously though besides the fertile waters the ia forum has a high registration count of mustard keen anglers living in and around you. Check them out asap or when you are ready'
Being a fellow fisherman I suppose if I was kinda personal and asked you if your parents christened you ELK? or is it because you wear horn rimmed glasses? Or you keep tossing them fish back?!! Bet you you can't catch me! ! !
Cheers mate, Hope you have a sense of humour like Fred , Freddie and Gavin!!
Glenn

Welcome friend,
Bangalore is a good place to be for angling.
Looks like Bobbee hit the jackpot last Friday, when he was allowed to fish at Lal Bagh. He had 7 fish in 30 minutes. The place has a lot of potential.
The authorities there just want someone to make a presentation to them on angling, and we need to be able to assure them that we will get members to join, on strictly a catch and release basis.
We were thinking of a 1000.00 buck membership fee, and Rs 150 per day as a fee till things pick up. They will have to maintain the lake on whatever collections come in. Imagine packing a rod at the drop of a hat and go fishing in the city (and a peaceful place at that).
How many guys do you think will join ?
The collection could go to maintaining the lake. Bobbee has kindly taken the first step forward, now it is left to the rest of us to ensure that this opportunity to fish and get that lake in better shape does not slip by.
Regards
Owen

We are not sure yet Gav, still need more meetings with them before anything is final. We need local anglers to stand up and be counted for this to work.

Owen

At the Fort, I pay 3000 bucks for 10 months.. But fishing is restricted to thrice a week, ie Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.. Also you are allowed to fish on public holidays..

In other public tanks/lakes, the charges vary from 100 bucks to 500 bucks a day...

Me thinks Rs 1000 for membership and Rs 100 per day for members is fair. Guests could be charged Rs 200. If they have a Coracle then maybe an extra Rs 100 per day for using that.

All fish other than tilapia would be catch and release.

OWEN, I did mean life membership. I became a member of wasi at Rs.1000/= in the seventies, and the rent of my house was Rs.350. That was steep. Till now I have not flashed my money around as I dont carry any. :P :x

I still love you as a younger brother.

I need paxs along with me to go and convince the authorities. I have fixed a meeting with him on the 5th. Thinking of inviting Dr. for our wasi get together. What do you guys say.
