Hi Everybody,

Could anyone please suggest that which Rod ( below 6'6" ) and Reel would be best to catch Indian Monster carp - Katla or Rohu ? What would be the ideal Ground Bait Recipe in that case ? And more that we in Kolkata get it very common to see the anglers throwing their baits as far as possible from the bank, is it really necessary ?

Please suggest.

Dear All, I am Arnab Majumdar of South Kolkata. Fishing has been a serious hobby to me since I was in school. At that time ponds and lakes were in abandon. I used to seat for angling almost everyday after school. But soon while on college days, I found water bodies were getting filled up with debris giving birth to high-rises & multiplexes. And now at 40, I get only 2 to 3 spots in kolkata where we could practise fishing. Naturally these lakes are overcrowded, seats are almost closer to each other within 6 feet. More predators than preys. For a span of 7 to 8 years I had not the opportunity to go for angling due to some family mishaps. And now when I have decided to move up again I have come to know that earlier concept of Rods and Reels have changed while the western reels and rods are in practice for easier catching. But I don't have any idea of Right Carp Rods or Reels of Western model. Please do help.
It would be favourable for me if the rod is below 6.5 ft in length.
