Hi all,
Sarge chipping in from California. Usually I think about hunting but love fishing as well. Rustam referred me to this site as the place to find out about mahseer. I started reading Jim Corbett when I was a sprout and still remember his fishing stories as clearly as I do his tiger hunts. I wasn't even aware that one could visit India with fish aforethought but now that I know am veerrryyyy innnnnnnnnnterested. Unfortunately, as a teacher, I can only get off in July and August. Can one possibly fish for mahseer in those months or do I wait until retirement . . . in about three years?

Thanx awfully,
Oldsarge

Hi Sarge,
Welcome to the forum.
You probably picked the worst months of the year to fish anywhere in this country for mahseer. July and August are out. Make that September and you could be OK in the north, make it May and you might be OK in the south.
Early retirement is the answer.
Regards
Owen

Hi Sarge,

Welcome aboard. Sad you picked the wrong months. But cheer up, with this global warming and stuff, I wouldnt be surprised if the mansoon decided to move off to to theMiddle East.

Well done that man for posting.

Not sure about down south, but 'up north' July and August are only good for leaches, mariujuana and rum (anyone got any "leachsocks"?)
