If you must know Gavin, "Happy", for want of a better word, lest some lesser mortals mangle the English Language. And thanks for brotherly (I hope) concern.

Anyway guys, I know Kamlakar has gone Snapper fishing this morning and by the time you guys get on line he should be back with a good catch and hopefully some photos that he would like to share with us.

Welcome to the forum Kamlakar, a good place to find out whats going on back home as far as fishing goes.

No dude.. Been to Bombay for holidays only... Me be a true blue Calcuttan..

In the hooghly (not Hubli, that is a city somewhere in Karnataka), there are fish but never fished there.. Reasons are:
1)The water is too polluted for fishing and there is not much scope too for dropping a line there...
2) Too much shit floating on the water
3) The Port Trust guys will keep hassling you. All out to make a qucik buck.
4) You need to get far out and next to the mouth of the Hooghly to have a chance of some good fishing without disturbance.. Please note that the Hooghly river is an important and busy waterway that connects the cities, Kolkata and Howrah. So if you try and fish in areass, that have ferries going to and fro, then you gonna be buggered !!!

Am more into coarse angling.. Lot of good water bodies around here for that sort of angling so I have stayed away from the river.

Cheers dude !!

Hi Gavin,

The Kajra or Barramundi what Kamlakar is referring to is called Bhekti or Bekti in Bengali, found in both Fresh and Saltwater.

You know what they say about Kiwis and Sheep..same thing with guys from Orlem (Malad) and Goats....

Just Kidding..

As the story goes, we had not been catching fish for a while so one day this goat followed us to the fishing spot and would not leave. One of the guys who was fishing with us had half a mind to catch the damn thing and take it home for the pot instead. It was the way he said it that really cracked us up...
