Hi guys!

Nice site you've got here!

I'm a bit of a traditional trout, grayling and occasionally if I can get the money together, salmon fisher using the fly rod. Basically an addict

But, in a couple of weeks I'm going to spend a few weeks in India and there is an off chance I might get to fish for a day while I'm there. Does anyone have any tips about using the fly in India? What sort of flies and tackle I might try etc. I've no idea whatsoever so any ideas at all would be brilliant. The river I may get a chance to fish is the Son, a tributary of the ganges. It is in Vindhyan hill range in Shahdol and Jabalpur districts of Madhya Pradesh.

Fingers crossed
P

Hi Dryfly,
The Northern Rivers are better for fly fishing I believe. You may also find trout in certain places in India, especially way up North and in some of the hill stations in the Nilgiris.
If you can't get any more specific information here, Misty Dhillon does some fly fishing. Google his name and you'll get onto him. He is based in Chandigarh in Punjab and runs trips into the Himalayas.

Let us know when you are going and how you get on.

Search with the text line "trout fishing india" in Google and you will get the required links which help.

Noticed Misty is registered on here, so go to the Himalayan Adventures posts and click on Misty's username to PM him.
Get out there and fling some fluff! LOL
The rest of us will go down the uncouth route of trying to deceive fish by using real baits! ;-)
