Hi All,

I'm Danny and boy am I glad to finally catch up with fellow anglers. I was raised in Mumbai, then relocated to Goa, back to Mumbai and now I'm currently studying in Pune.

I was introduced to angling by my dad when I was 7. I've been hooked ever since (pun intended). I started off fishing with hand lines at Marve beach in Mumbai and took to fishing rods after I relocated to Goa. In Goa, I have fished at the Baga creek, Dona Paula, Miramar beach, Bicholim, off the Panjim Bridge and Britona Church. We recently moved into a villa at Britona that faces the Mandovi river so I now have my very own private 24/7 fishing spot :). Some of our (dad and mine) biggest catch has been from our new home. Although I am now based in Pune, I travel to Goa whenever I can and grab a beer and my fishing gear waiting for a bite that will change my life.

Although I am quite adept with live and dead bait fishing I am very new to lures and I'm glad that I am amongst most of you who are way more experienced than I am. I believe thats the best way to learn. I have recently started using rubber shads but no luck so far although I'm confident of hitting something big soon. So I hope that all of you will share your best practices and help me take my angling to a new level.

I have attached some pics of the fish we have caught from our new place (click on the image to get a better view). All of these have been nabbed with dead bait. Your comments are most welcome.

Thats all for now. I will add posts as and when I can and hopefully will add value to IA.

Glad to be here,

Danny

Hi Danny,
Welcome to I.A.
A lovely introduction. What are you studying in Pune.
Would you happen to know a Harry Lawrence in Britona?Stays just before the Bridge.
His house is up a long flight of steps.
Syd.

Hi Syd,

Harry is my neighbor, and a very good friend of my fathers. :) Small world eh?

I'm studying for my MBA in Advertising from SIMC (Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication). Will graduate in March next year.

Cheers

Danny

Wassup Danny Boy?

From the looks of it it looks you have an amazing spot. MJ's for breakfast, Lunch and Dinner :) Lovely place. Hopefully will visit you ad Merwyn one day when I down on vacation. Till then keep them coming.

You've got some lovely fish there. The place is a perfect habitat for MJ's.

Lucky you Danny

Sung to the tune of 'O Danny Boy'

O Danny Boy, the fish, the fish are calling
from dawn to dusk and in the night time.
the tide is come & all the fish are feeding
T'is you T'is you should go & you should Cast.

Then come 'ye runs, with fish that jump & tail walk
Then come 'ye fish that dive & run into rock,
then you must wait, with patience, unabated
and you will land, and you will land, a your mighty fish.

Hey thanks for the warm welcome. I'm hoping to catch up with some anglers from Goa and Mumbai whenever I'm there. Do you guys fish together?

Welcome on board Danny. Hope to see more posts from you in the future.

Lovely fish but will look much better when the fish is held by the angler for a photo, preferably with water in the background. Pictures of fish in pots and pans is not very sporting.

Cheers

"Oh Danny boy, Danny boy,

He sings the songs that remind him
Of the good times
He sings the songs that remind him
Of the better times
I get knocked down
But I get up again
You're never going to keep me down

"Oh Danny Boy
Danny Boy

Welcome to IA Danny. The transition from bait to lure is a patience game so go on trying. There are some nice discussions about how to use rubber shads on IA. Go through then and I am sure you will land your dream fish.

Regards,

Ali. :P
