Hi all,

Just registered my self today. Its a great site. I'm from chennai have been to the cauvery fishing camp on about four occasions. My best ever catch was a 67lb masheer a couple of years ago. Me along with 8 other anglers from mumbai have planned a trip to Beehmeahwari next month. Will keep you all posted on our trip.

Hi Vinod - Welcome aboard..

I agree with Bobby. The poor bugger is all alone in another country

Freddie, on the other hand, i have heard can literally cast into the sea from his bedroom.. And if he cant get the angle right, I heard owen say that he's got two bloody expensive fish that can give a good fight if hooked..

Owen - Don't feel sad mate... Just don't tell theses buggers about the mermaids you have caught

Well i do know that the Bheemeshwari stretch was muddied up on the 9th and 10th due to rain upriver, cleared a bit on the 11th and much better yesterday, although the water level is a little high.
If Vinod had any luch it would have been on the 11th, and an early morning session on the 12th before check out. 8)

Owen you were right about the water condition on 10th, 9th was ok. on 10th the water was muddy and rose about a foot higher. We were a group of 8. On 9th we had one cat, on 10th no luck in the morning in the evening we had 3 big cats. on 11th the water had gone down and was clearer and I landed an 18 pounder silver(catfish pool) and three of them landed 15-18 pounder silver. We lost about 4 good fish due to current and line snags. on 12th one person landed a 25 pounder Silver. I lost one at tiger pool due to line snag. Over all we had a good time. We loved the "rapids".on 11th and 12 th there were too many anglers, most of them have come from Germany/Italy for abut 10 days.

Probably the most important factor besides water level and water tempreature Gav.
The fish seem to go off eating once the water colours up badly.
The only thing that may coax them out is a chilwa or a bright spoon cast under a shining sun.
Having said that, there are some lucky sods who have landed very big fish in coffee coloured water (i have seen pix of these conditions), and one of Alexis early posts shows a rather large fish with the water in pretty murky condition.
The thing is that as the water is beginning to turn murky, you could have some good sport (probably the fish sense that there are bad times ahead, and eat as much as they can), after that it is usually down to small rods and worms for carp, cats, wallago attu.

The Wallago Attu is the fresh water shark my friend. Another name for it is the Mulley. Will have to bring you up to scratch on our fish.
All you seem to dream about is Catla /Rohu /Mirgal.
I have some good books to take forth your education matey! Here's a picture of the mulley courtesy Mission-Mahseer.

Once the imageshack page opens up showing the picture and the different URL choices select the one highlighted in red in the picture below. Then copy that link and paste it in your new post. There's no need to do anything more than that. Hit preview to see if the post will come out ok before selecting submit.
