Hi All,
Well I'm an old enthusiast yet a novice! Grew up fishing in and around the many Bangalore lakes that have disappeared, often fished in the tributary of the Dakshin Pinaki (now a huge drain). Have even fished in large farm wells (silver fish, korvae, a small carp like fish with a dot on the tail) – has anyone done that? Was initiated into fishing by my dad and caught my first fish at a place called “Pump House” this was again the Pinaki flowing under the railway tracks about 2 KM from Whitefield station (don’t try finding it – it’s a huge blackwater filled drain now). Once I was out of school I got distracted and got reinterested a few years ago! Have migrated from the bamboo rods to reel and rod I picked up from the US – some cheap ones from WalMart and a real beauty from the Sports Authority at Cape Caneveral in Florida!

I have fished (illegally) but absolutely responsibly in the Cauvery about 10 years ago when JUNGLE LODGES were not the gods of the Cauvery – my Dad and his friends have fished there for years prior to the liscensing etc. Dead line fishing for Masheer! Trust me I’ve seen them land 20 Lbs with absolutely no rod and reel!

Last Sunday I went to a lake suggested on this site “Vemgal” – its bone dry! So we stopped off at the large Narasipur lake – hooked in a few small Tialpia – but the place is full of Sh** and the kids (my brothers) and my wife did not like their first trip fishing for the surroundings were far from pristine!

I am interested in getting a liscense to fish at the Cauvery but I cannot get the required info – the site says I can become a WASI member, which I’m willing but there is no one I know who can recommend me, any volunteers?

Finaly – I had my first and only deep sea fishing experience late last year off the coast of Cocoa Beach in Florida where we caught some massive barracuda and mahi mahi! Pictures are soon to follow!

Hope I can meet some buddies here, someone who can help me become a member of WASI and find some recommendations for fishing where I can go around Bangalore and return within a day. Cheers! Gang!
