Freddie Boy - I ain't at the tennis mate. But am at the "training grounds" and "post match discussions"..... And the advantages of having a name like a chef is that you can promise to cook them dinner and then follow that up with Bed-N-Breakfast..... (if you know what I mean !!!   )

Hey Glenn, Peter - Please refer to the above and Welcome to the Asylum !!! :P

Anyway I started with a poem fromthe plaque on the wall of the Chetput fishing club, funded and run by the PWD where fish were netted and sold to all comers each Saturday morning. If a member, one caught Tilapia, Murrel< Rohu and other fresh water species. I forgot! The poem
Afellow isn't thinking mean,out fishing!
His thoughts are always good and clean, out fishing!
He never hurts his fellow men,
Orharbours any grudges then
A fellow is at his best when---OUT FISHING !!!
The Chetpet lake is now a swamp besides the Chetpet railway station, sadly. Can It be rescued? Brought back to it's former glory?
Does anyone who lived in Chennai Remember the lake? Perhaps, even fished in it and caught a big Rohu? Or a tiddler Tilapia?
We came to Australia in 1970 and are only now thinking of a holiday to the old country.About time!!
There is Glenn!

Hello Owen, Gavin, Fredfish, one and all,
Thank you for the warm welcome. I finally surfaced after spending some time to work out how the system runs! I know now and you will no doubt hear from me again.
Where is Patrick Kerr? I met him thru the Old Georgian website. We are both old Georgians. It is amazing how us fishos can smell each other out and from such long distances at that!! I met Owen thru Patrick. And then I discovered Owen was Kenny's son who was in his senior year in Stanes Coimbatore when I joined in 1950/ 51 Sadly, I was told that Ken Bosen passed away in Feb this year. He was a great man and I am sure will be missed by ALL who knew him. We hero worshipped him when in Stanes and although he had finished his schooling kept in touch with the students to assist in their athletic development.
I am in the main a salt water fisherman. Estuary fishing from bank or tinny a favourite. Night fishing for bream, tailor{known as greenback inthe states}, flathead or lizard[best known for it's excellent table qualities} is most rewarding although mosquittos in summer put the damper on things. The larger species like mackeral[3 species}, giant trevally[again several types available],cod, kingfish and several others are available in open sea which require larger boats and a strong disposition! The Charter boat operators seem to produce large catches and are most popular for the keen fisherman, as most fish the wider reefs and will go to great lenghts to hold their customers.
Cheers for now.
Glenn has been found!!

Yup it was great meeting up with Fred and family Sunday evening, and yes mates you can actually cast into the sea from his balcony, though we would have hooked a couple of fishermen in the bargin, so we stayed away from the casting bit, but had a great evening guzzling beer and trading fish stories.
Even managed to speak to Bops and Gavin from his place.
Thanks Fred n hope you can make that trip of a lifetime with Pat or me this year!
Tight Lines on your trip to Vijay Durg coming up in a couple of days.
Mmmmmmmmmm still dreaming of the fish and prawns !
