Hi everyone, just thought id write a quick post to introduce myself, been a keen carp angler back in the uk for 8 years now, on assignment in Mumbai (have been here for the last 7 months with no fishing!) Thought i would join a forum in India to chat to like minded people. UK pb is 21lb 2 common caught in Buckinghamshire, member of a club in Hinkley UK trying to beat my pb, have entered BCAC twice (what a waste of time and money that was) am lucky enought to have a wife who is just as into carping as me so when back in the uk we spend most weekends lakeside and travel around the country to try and catch a 30!

All the best

J

Hi J,

Welcome to the forum, support from the wife, wow, you are one luck man. Most of us are on the verge of divorce because of our...err.. "Angling.. Problem".

I am sure you will enjoy it here, there is some decent carping to be had in Bombay and some pretty interesting species of local carp, including one that sometimes goes airborne when hooked. I am no carper but there are some good ones here who will help you and even take you out fishing.

Bobby

Hi J,

Welcome to IA.

Mumbai has one of the finest carp fishing lake in India. 21 Lb carp in Mumbai is considered a decent size.

Send me Or Ali a PM if you want to join us for fishing at M.S.A.A club (Powai lake) if you are lucky, you might get a 30 :)

Santosh

HI J,
welcome to IA.
Not much of a carper myself, but a fish on the end of the line is a fish :))

Lots of chaps from the mumbai leg of the IA here will probably contact you.

Must add that you are quite lucky to have your wife support you ;)

Howdy J,
Welcome to the madness. Come up north after September and we'll show you a gold mine. A personal best of 10lbs will make that 30 pounder look like a sissy.

PS : Errr was your wife into carping before she met you or did you get her into it. If it's the later, please share the method, rig, ground bait, etc

Wow, its so good to get some quick replies from other fisherfolk!

I forgot to mention that my wifes pb is 22lb 2oz mirror (as shes just been very quick to remind me!!) I live about 10 minutes from Powai lake and didn't realize it had carp in it....result!!!
excellent reply from Mahaseerken! I got her into it (went on holiday in the uk for a weeks fishing, she was supposed to just sit on the bank and read a book, weather was very bad, she decided to give it a go as she was bored. here is the secret of success for landing a carping wife

Method ( margin fishing, 1ft of the rod tip in 1.5ft water)
Rig (made by me but now she builds her own (sickening isn't it!))
ground bait ( 1 handfull of sweetcorn with a single piece of pop up corn)
Result 10 mins later a 16lb common on the unhooking matt.
Husband gutted and threatend to straighten out her hooks if she does it again!!

Thanks for all your messages, Powai here I come!!!!
