Post subject:  Hi Everyone,

This is Arvind Saxena and belongs to Jabalpur city (Madhya Pradesh), but finally settled in South Bangalore. I am working in Software industry.

I am very delighted to join this group and found very good posts (organized rules). First let me explain my angling carrier. I born and bought up in Jabalpur city, this city used to call Marble city or 52 Pond (small lake) cities. I started my carrier about age of 7 and used to catch 7-8 rehu on rainy season. I still remember the old sindhi shop where I will get Fishing hook for 20 Paisa (1980-85) and 10 paisa for Peacock feather (floater). Now same shop is giving for 2-10 Rupees. I used to catch CAT fish by hand.

So overall I used to get full fishing gear within 50 buck (country one), Now I am looking for modern hook/lines and floter. I have read so many posts but not found any contacts.

I would like to know the safe places for angling around Bangalore are.

I am adding Jabalpur city wiki photo, where you people see the angling heaven around the city. City is covered with wide Narmada River and so many ponds. ... =0&m=a&v=2

Last Sunday I went to Mutathi with full family(wife/daughter) and tried my luck in angling and got one fish with limited resourse. Looks like that fish is rehu category only.

Hi Arvind!

My Dad was posted in Jabalpur around 1973 at the Gun carriage factory and i remember going to the narbada and we fooled the fish which were very tame.... I had no tackle as fishing was not on the agenda and when we reached the ghat and i saw the teeming fish -- I just couldn't resist (I was probably 12 years old) so i would scatter chana and catch the fish with my hand which would come between my open palms.... and it was fun to see them swim away when I would release them..
