G'day!
I am a mad about fishing person. I have relocated from overseas to Delhi a few years back. I have been fishing from 1971 since I was 9. Dad being in the Army helped getting access to many rivers and lakes in North Bengal, Bhutan and Sikkim.
I did a lot of Salt water fishing in Muscat and Australia for Snapper, Shark, Grouper, Barramundi, Snapper, Whiting, flatheads etc. In India I did river and fresh water fishing restricted to Rohu and other bread eating carps, Malee, Singhara, eel etc.
For my first foray in fishing in India since 1980, I went to Jim Corbett in early November last year and took the requisite tackle which was mentioned on the resort's website (10' two piece fiber glass rods, 200mts 20lb lines on appropriate reels, spoons, spinners, plugs, floats etc) and fished the beat at Ramganga and Kosi. Was able to catch only 1 mahseer of 2.5lb on soft bread and float and 2 normal carp of about 1lb each. At the Kosi I could see over 20 odd 5-20 lb-ers near the resort but they just wouldn't bite no matter what I used.
I have also taken life membership of HP Angling association as my Dad lives now in Palampur, but have never fished in the Pong dam or Joginder nagar out there. I have tried fishing in Saat taal and Bhimtaal in Uttaranchal but no luck at all...
I am delighted to find this website as my wife always cribbed that all I would carry from my overseas trip was fishing tackle...
With a 'have rods n tackle, will travel" policy I am looking forward to going on fishing trips from Kashmir to Kerala and Mumbai to Arunachal with like minded fishing enthusiasts... I travel regularly to Bangalore and Mumbai on work..
I look forward to learning from all the great Masters out there....
