Hello to all,

Thrilled to have found this site. I am from Andhra and have been fishing from the age of 8 when I got my first fish ( cat fish) somwhere near Hyderabad. Live in anantapur district and do alot of fishing ing dams, reservoirs and rivers. Just last night got 5 cat fish each weighing 3 to 4 kilos. They make a better curry than a fry. Looking forward to learn from all you guys.

Monch

Welcome to the forum.
Where do you fish in Anantpur?
We should believe in catch n release instead of eating the fish.
I wonder how you ate all the fish.

Forget the cutlery. Fish curry and rice deserves to be eaten with your hands.

Hi guys,

Did not have a camera on the day. A damn good curry and yes need to be eaten with hands and plenty of tamarind to go in it. It tastes better the foolowing day. Andhra fish curry is preferred the following day.

As for letting fish go, I do believe in it too, but not all of them. We let the little ones go.

Sailendra, any time you feel like fishing in these parts drop me a line.

Monch

thanks guys,

first from rural andhra, interesting. surly not from the lack of fishing but the lack of technology. As a boy I always fished with bamboo, line, float and hook. Nothing really has changed. it is still as popular as ever. But have no idea what the world of fishing has to offer. when they see my rod and reel they are amazed, just like I was when I first went to england (I was 18). I happened to enter into a fishing shop and was swept off my feet. I was amazed to see what the fishing world was all about. glad to see that angling is moving ahead in India. As for my dry district it is still a long way to go.

cheers

Monch
