Hi Anglers,

This is Rajesh from Thane. It feels great to be a part of this forum. We all share the same passion.

I started off by using make shift fishing rod using stick and line with nets and tried fishing in ponds, Lakes and backwaters.

I distinctly remember once I and my Bro Santosh (who was also instrumental in introducing me to this forum) were fishing and had caught a decent size fish which we thought was a Katla and carried that impression till few months back (though now we know it was Tilapia) we all started dancing and shouting with joy and in the whole commotion the fish slipped out of my bro hand happily jumped back in to the lake. Santosh still carries that guilt and probably took up angling seriously  (LOL). After that experience had been to Goa, Harihareshwar, Ghodbunder creek, Upvan Lake with Santosh and enjoyed a lot.

Been to Powai with Santosh couple of times and learnt a lot, his passion for fishing is very contagious. Santosh introduced me to Alibhai who was kind enough to guide me the basics.

Now after getting in the forum I understand I have lot to learn.

Need to add this that IA is a great place for information and to meet people with common interest.

Regards

Rajesh

Hi Rajesh,

Welcome to the forum, like your bro, I carry similar guilt. Was fishing at Lands End, Bandra when my younger bro hooked into his first Ravas, looked like something around the 4lb mark. He played it and brought it in close ready to land. I asked him to hand over the rod to one overzelous angler who kept asking him "give me" "give me" (incidently this angler is a member of this forum, but no names) to land the fish. Anyway my bro reluctantly handed over the rod, this guy instead of landing the fish loosens the drad to let the fish run in the process looses the fish. Turns out that the fish got the opportunity to somehow open the clip and release the spoon. Fish gone! I could not look my bro in the eye. Ofcourse this guy blamed it on the poor quality clips

Bobby
