Hi Guys,

glad to find this forum!

I got hooked to fishing during my stay at erstwhile Enron's Dabhol Power Plant. Used to do fishing off the jetty (some 1.5 km offshore) with just fishing lines and shrimps / minnows as baits (in Gauti style  ). Whenever I got fish hooked, all I used to do was haul it up as soon as possible, not a very skilful, I agree  and lost quite a number of fish that way. My best catch was a 4.5 Kg Rawas and by Jove! it tasted wonderful with beer :D

Gosh, I didn't even know how to pose with a fish!!

But I have moved to Mumbai and been here for about three years now and almost forgot the thrills of fishing till recently when my GF gifted me a fishing rod. Boy, I am excited at the prospect of getting back at it!!!

So one more newbie at this wonderful forum and require all the help to learn this gentlemen’s sport
Looking for places to angle in and around Mumbai plus tips / tricks of the trade

Cheers

Anindya

Welcome to the forum

I know, that's why first thing I did was to grab the rod and kept it at safe place out of her reach :D :D

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Barramundi!!! to speak the truth, though I'm a bong, I don't know a fish from a FISH  One guy told me it was Rawas

Bronze Croaker, Dori.?? if I am not wrong they also take dead bait.. hand liners catch them during monsoon on dead bait.

Thank You Guys for the welcome!!

This Saturday, manage to visit Powai lake, could see someone with a rod on the boat at the middle of the lake around 6 - 6:30 pm. Just sat beside few guys fishing with handlines near the road.

My first experiance with rod was quite disaster as I do not know much about using the rod or tackle setup or casting :(
Managed to get just small a tug on the line, fished out a cloth from the bottom  , lost a hook and sinker but NO FISH. Thats when I realised I need bigtime help!!!

Guys please bail me out; can I join some of you in Mumbai for next weekend (Sat /Sun) and I promise I won't pester....OK may be just a little bit :-)

Cheers

Many Thanks Saiki, BoP, Apoo & Madhur!

Ali Bhai true to his fame was prompt & gracious to consider my request.

This forum is a mine of information, though I confess, much of it right now is going two feet above my head :?

But seriously guys, when do you get time to work?

This is madness, and I'm getting lured to it like a gnat moving toward light, soon will be hooked

Cheers
