well we have a few species of coarse fish. we have Koi Carp like in my photo. also we have a few grass carp, catfish, tench, goldfish, F1 hybried fish, trout ,perch, rudd.
most fish are classed as pest fish here in NZ but there are a few of us who do it for the sure pleasure of fishing. we practise catch and release methods here. im sure you do to. i originaly come from zimbabwe the bread basket of Africa it was once called. the town i used to live was called the city of kings. now i stay in the city of sails! Auckland New Zealand!

Welcome to the forum. One question-why do you release "pest fish"? Another question-are these pest fish introduced fish species?
Enjoy your fishing

yes these fish were released many many years ago by the settlers from the uk they were brought over by ship to use as a food source for them while they stayed here in NZ. Trout were relesased some years after the carp. and now that the carp are growing out of control there are loads in the waters, in the north island of newzealand.

they authorities say that carp makes the water muddy when they feed and that they are killing of a lot of the other spieces around. i disagree with them because i think that the carp are not capable of making the water that much muddyer than us Humans with our boats and pollution.

so we are curently trying to make the authorities DOC to understand what is going on with the fish. but they do not want to reason with us so we do what we have to do in order to keep our sport going.

I was under the impression that NZ had some of the world's best freshwater sport fishing. We too have many battles with the authorities.
Best of luck

Hi, Zimbo,

Welcome aboard.

I understand that Newzelanders do lot of Kite Fishing from Beaches. For this kind of Fishing you need the wind blowing from land to sea. Does the wind always blows from land towards Sea?

How is Saltwater Fishing in NZ?

Regards,

Arun

yes we do Kite fish here in NZ i have not tryed this metod of fishing yet as it require alot of gear to start it of! it all depends on the direction of the wind. you see in NZ we can drive to one side of the beach to the other within an 1hrs drive so you could always kite fish all you have to know is were is the best place to send your kite out.

Sea fishing is great if you have a boat and i do not have one yet but planning to Purcase one in the near future.
