Hi brothers,

It's a delight to visit this website and experience all the interesting things that the rest of us have been upto lately. The website is full of wisdom and valuable experiences i hope that it continues to grow and be one of the top websites of the world.

My name is Alistair i'm originally from India presently located in the middleast. I will be in Goa, India from End Dec 07 to End Jan 08, during this period i look forward to meet like minded brothers and have a good time fishing.

A little bit about me:

Fishing full time since : 2 years (i fish atleast 2 full days a week, all public holidays and atleast 1 weekday after work sometimes 2 to 3 days after work, Sometimes i go fishing twice a day to catch the two high tides i can get in a day !)

Type of fishing: Saltwater mostly

Rods presently using :
Daiwa Surf Summer 4503 - 4.5mts,
Master turbo surf 2150-3002 - 2 pcs - 1.55mts,
Poleco - telescopic - 3mts
One old rod

Reels presently using : Viking vi 5000 and one old reel

Reels waiting delivery :
Daiwa - 2 pcs
Gold - 1pc
Okuma - 2pcs

Knots i know to tie: Bloodknot, Snell Knot.
Knots i am presently practising : Uni Knot, Improved Clinch, Offshore swivel knot, Palomar knot

Bait i regularly use:
Shrimp, Squid, Mackerel, Small fish (Live bait and dead bait).

Fishes caught: Goatfish, one spotted sea bream, Two banded sea bream, Needlefish, pompano, Mullet, emperor, catfish

Max fish caught on one angling trip : 16
Max fish caught on net on one trip : 3 buckets full plus
Max Crab caught on one trip : 9

Note : I'm happy when i go fishing it dosen't matter if i catch or don't catch, the most important thing is to go there and 'just do it', you know what i mean ? Also i compliment people who catch more and encourage people who catch less.

Hooks used : 2/0, 1/0, 2, 4, 6, 8 (Master & Octopus)

Line used :
Arctic Strong - .40mm / 9.07Kg;
Sea Wolf - .30mm / 5kg;
Berkley Big Game - .018"dia / 20lb;
Assorted Local line - 40 / 50 / 60 mm

Fishes i want to catch:
Grouper
Stingray
Eels
Octopus
Squid
Sharks especially MAKO

Future interests and aspirations:
Go Boating & Fishing with local fishermen
Learn local boating and fishing techniques
Trolling
Bait casting
Fish at as many spots (known and unknown)
Charter fishing to the top destinations of the world

Hopefully in 2008 - To own a boat (one of these - Cuddy cabin, deck boat, center console, bowrider; if i can't afford them i'll settle with a inflatable dinghy  )

God willing - To travel and fish on the seven seas

If fate permits - To catch Mako shark and other sharks, Blue Marlin, Yellow fin Tuna, Giant Catfish, Giant Perch, Lake trout, Tarpon, Sailfish, Roosterfish, Snook

Fishing spots to go to (if i win a lottery):
Andaman Islands
Isla Vieques - Puerto Rico,
Courantyne River in Suriname,
Columbia River - North America,
Mary River, Shady Camp Reserve, Northern Territory of Australia,
East Cape of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula,
Great Slave Lake, Northwest Territories, Canada
Puerto Jiménez, Costa Rica

Notes:
I like to teach what i know and am eager to learn and perfect techniques related to fishing and boating. Newbies are most welcome to contact me and i'll be around asking for advice and seeking knowledge from the 'Gurus'
:-)

Thank you my dear brothers Ken, Tathagata, Owen, Mahaseerken, Carpernicus, Santosh, Bobby, Koolsdud, Keyur for a warm welcome.

Yes Owen i got it because i read the made in India :-) Thought i'll give it a try and see what it's like. It's been worthwhile and i did'nt face any problems with it yet. I have a 1kg Arctic Strong spool which i use to spool my reel at times. I do use Berkley Big Game but it's only for the leader part of the line.

Presently i'm making a list of line, hooks, lure, noseplier, equipment and other gear like torches, polarized sunglasses, cooler box, trolley, wading shoes... based on everybody's input on the forum that will help me on my trip to India.

It will be a pleasure to meet up Tathagata 8) you guys are awesome :D
