hi everyone. this is v.singh and iam currently studying in scotland. last month i went fishing for the first time with a friend in england - carp fishing !! stayed up for more than a day with 4 rods in the drink. all we caught were 3 small perch .. but i absolutely loved it. i guess its all about the chase. even though we were legering - friends been fishing for 20 year and hes only 26 - iam looking forward to starting with some spinning. maybe float. finally i can put my grandad old rod - he used it to catch some huge tiger fish in the nile - to good use.

could do with some help-
i need to buy new line and i have no idea of what good and whats not. i would appriciate your advice. and also can you buy the gear you need in india. i did see stuff available on the forum but doesnt seem like much of a choice. what are the other essential a beginner should lay his hands on?

cheers !!

Well you are in the right place. good for you that you have started off on the right foot.

IA has an online store. Take a look and you will certainly find stuff. If you are in Scotland you may want to walk into any of the local angling shops and they will guide you with your equipment.

Welcome Abroad: Ruler of sun.

Hi There V!

Welcome aboard.

Fishing in India will be a bit different from that in Scotland so I suggest you read the posts here and get a bit more information. Feel free to asks questions. Once you have a hang o things start buying. The IA store will fill you in with a lot that you'll need but you'll still have to go out and pick up the rest. There are a few place in India where you'll be able to get stuff but the options will be limited to what's in stock. Suggest you look out for sales and get onto the net to buy your stuff the UK.

Cheers

Welcome,
If you are going to be in Scotland for some time then it is best to buy from a tackle shop which are in most towns. For Indian fishing you can get most of the equiptment in the Shoppe on this forum. Make the most of your opportinuity fishing in the scottish highlands.
Enjoy
