I got hooked onto marral when the first ever wicked curve of the back and the major splash took my bait in Oct 2006.
That I lost the fish-bugger actually spat out my lure:) was another eye opener!
Repeated the fun last weekend, where I had 24 hrs to fish and ended up fishing for about 20 hrs...
Location: WASI Cottage,Shivasamundram
Rod-Ugly Stik 7 foot
Reel-Pflueger-10lb
Line-berkeley-10lb
Lure-Cabelas& Basspro -scum frogs
X factor :? chicken skin on the hooks, acts as additional legs and tasty ones at that
3 Marral-about a kg each ,lost a bigger guy who bit thru my leader and line and went away with my fav froggie.Another first.
No chanceof using spinners as the water level was down and a couple of tries with a Mepps No.4 got me snags on the weeds.
You know MM, its a very zen thing and I guess when the ghillie tells me to cast at that weedy area-I can actually cast there-not bad for 10 months...Am going back for more...
Rustam was life jacket and chief mother hen, kept me out of trouble, packed the suntan cream, tonnes of food and water , loaned me 2 tonnes of stuff from his tackle box, took some great snaps and ate my cooking. Thanks Chief!

The first big one-Lost him-another case of spatoutthefrogitis!

forget the weight-check out the grin!
Image
GOt back to shore -oh my aching butt, couldnt resist a few casts into sonme promising weedy areas and lookee!
Image
The next step...

This was a trip bonus-Bluefin in Forbes sagar-1123pm
Rod-DAM, 20lb stren, Ragi ball and 4/0 Gamakatsu-Nippy lil feller. We hope to meet again in 5 years...

So nice to see you with those fishes. Are you still in Blore or in Noida? Say hi to Rusty.

Yup mate.

Too many plans. Too little action.

In the words of a godbrand 'Let's do it'.

Great going in bang.

Bobster-you can be cryptic any time-all I want is fish for life-knees turn red or vibgyor! Am sure you've had more than 12x of our share of a bad sun burn with your sea fishing...
Reminds me, made a Aluminium tube lure as per Neil, didnt get a chance to try it out ...next time may be?

Asif, I can say this, I have never had a sunburn fishing, I dont think any salties do, we are quite well prepared for that kind of thing.

Whoah, guess I have a lot to learn buddy-first thing is long sleeves and trousers always?
The only suntan cream I could get was SPF 15...
What other tricks of the trade can you guys tell us?
Maybe you can start a new thread?
Thanks

Asif, Funny thing happened once and I will post pictures..

I was fishing for Ladyfish with a Canadian friend of mine, it was mostly an overcast day.

This guy was wearing a regular shortsleved shirt and he managed to pick up a sunburn through that, dont know how he did it..

I am probably the "Thick Skinned Variety"....yes I know what I have said and I mean it in the literal sense.
