Hi Guys,

With a race against time, I went to the PH for SOL searching. The contractor had already put up his tents and equipment to clean up the canal and knowing from past expereince, not even a single chilwa is left, after they finish.

Here is one that was 5.25 kg on scale. The moment I dropped my frog, I heard a huge splast and churning of water. My line screamed and on tightning the drag, my rod sounded like a sailing ship creaking in a storm.
As with all Sol's it ran for cover and had to be retrieved by one of the professional netters.

Here is the photo of the Sol:

Happy Dewali to all @ IA

Cheers!

abSOLutely amazing, Sammo.... The telescopic rod must have got your heart in your mouth, mate.. Great going. Me thinks that since the contractors have come in, there ain't gonna be no soul-fishing there.. Time to hit Bhakra..

Tight Lines and a Bright & Festive Season to you and your family..

Gavin

Thanks guys, for the complements.

The beauty, cunning and sheer power of this fish amazes me. I am sure all of your would agree.

That day, I saw the agressive nature of this fish. Small sol's - say about 4-5" were tugging at the legs of my frog to bring it down. It felt like float fishing, when you see your bobber taking a dip........ hilarious yet intriguing. I guess its all about raw nature.

Cheers.

Thanks everyone and for frog hook setting, I have myself barely mastered it. Basically let the SOL take the frog and run, before setting the hook. It will either set in the gullet or lips, since the palate is very very hard.

Cheers!

just one question there mate
as you said that the contractor will net the pond / lake and all the fishes will be removed after netting......
looking at the size of your fish i dont think its less than a year!!!!
thats why my question is
after how much time the contractor net the pond / lake???
thanks in advance

Hi,

There is a large lake and it overflows into a canal seasonally. The contractor has a license to net the canal. That’s how we get big fish :-)

Cheers
