Surprisingly had tried many times & have never caught any On a frog.... :( probably Wrong Place & time, :?

For me only spinners worked...

Would appreciate if you tell us which frog you used & even better if you post a pic of it :D

Thanks for the encouragement.

Fish weighed in at 5.2 Kg.

Tackle used
- Lake trolling rod Cabelas - 5' (yes, I am sure there are lots of raised eyebrows - but I like the stiff action and the sure hooksets I get with this)
- Line - Berkeley Trilene - 8 pound test mono
- Reel - Shimano Alvio 4000
- Lure - River2Sea Bully Wa Frog

As for using frogs - I like the challenge they present and the spectacular strikes. I personally feel my hookset % has gone from probably 90% with the spinners to about 60% with the frogs but the experience is worth it - especially when you get a strike from under the scum near your feet :-)

Yeah! surface lures get the best strikes. I have had a murrel follow the lure, the wake that the fish made gave it away. It then killed the frog right at the bank, under my feet. VERY Exciting!

Was the frog fit to be used a second time?

Yes, not really an issue - it get turned inside out - but if you just push things back as they are supposed to be - its as good as new - I have used the same frog over and over - after about 6 or 7 hits by fish above 1.5 to 2 kg the frog tends to fill up with water much faster and requires the water squeezed out of it every 3-4 casts :-)

What do you guys think about angling for snakeheads on the monsoon season?

Well I know that they reproduce themself in the season of monsoon..
Some people told me that they're more difficult to catch them..But is it really true?

I'm planning a new trip around the monsoon months and I really want to know what kind of gear would work out best for snakehead angling around these months.

Hi
During breeding the snakeheads become more aggressive in defending the eggs and are therefore more likely to take the lure. for equiptment see my link on Fishing 18 Jan 2009 in images gallery

Interesting thing that I noticed at this time of the year - about 3 weeks back was that the Murrel were in pairs...I saw at least 5 pairs and they seemed aggressive - anything cast in the direction of the pairs was being attacked. Do they have 2 breeding seasons ? Or is this normal behaviour...I always thought they were solitary creatures who only got together during mating season.

Great job Sudhir, I agree with your tackle totally- i found my good old 8lb 7ft ugly stick with pflueger 8lb reel and 8-10 lb mono to be just perfect. As for the frogs, they get chewed up, but squeeze the shape back and voila, you're ready for the next one.
Hamour, your set up sounds a bit of overkill for murral. He'll take your lure and either spit it out or run for the weeds...and you get him in after that-get a shorter rod.6-7 ft max with a 4000 series reel and 10lb mono should be enough.Spinners work just fine, but watch out for snags in murral areas-they love weed patches.
