HI Guys,

Went over the weekend to Ahmedabad to see my son Rahul who is studying there.
Over dinner, we were talking fishing as usual and drifted from future Gt popping trip plans to fresh water fishing. Then he popped the question " want to catch a Murrel"?
He had one spinner a mepps no2 with rusted trebles and told me we have one shot if the fish see us its over and if the spinner gets stuck on the weeds and bush we dont have any other lures.
The next day morning saw me on his bike going through some beautiful country side , occasional glimpses of Nilgai, Pea cocks on the wing, Monitor lizards sun bathing, black winged kites and marsh harriers on the hunt and a cow with an identity crisis submerged in a pond along with a herd of buffaloes .
Afer a 30 km ride we landed up on the banks of a Narmada canal with over grown bushes on the banks and chocked to the hilt with weeds.

After some scouting he found the spot and asked me to stay low and cast across the canal . I let the spinner fly saw it landing on the far side, got momentarly tangled on some weeds , tore free and while crossing a clear break in the weeds a silver brown blur came out of nowhere and .......

Hi Guys,

Gypsy & Ken you can file your papers between Nov 008 and March 2009 on a boat in Abu Dhabi. Same goes to Fred , only youll have to let out part of the shack on your V durg hide out to me when I retire !

Alexy - That was a 15LB yozuri Hybrid ,though in the picture it looks like a 50lb leader??

hi jeen,

nice catch. this canal is full of huge murrel. they will even come on artificial frogs and poppers.i will soon post the pictures of my catch from the very same canal. recently a friend caught a 5kg murrel from there.
