Use top water bait like scum frogs, cast around weed banks and shady leafy areas.
Snakeheads are non veg (like me! ;) ) so decorate your topwater lures with some chicken skin strips. You can also try meat offal like tendons etc commonly called 'dog meat' from any butcher-means meat FOR dogs, not dog meat per se!
But old faithful Mepps Aglia in no's 3 and 4 should get you some strikes comfortably...
Timing would be 6-8am and again by 3-5pm, just a rough guide, you may get a strike any time, on anything-I've had snakehead take Ragi on a hair rig...
Best, and go for it

Snake Heads, Sol, Murral... the fish comes with a built in motion sensor... if it moves, it will be bitten... they bite first and ask questions later!!! Do a slow retrive with your spinner/plug/scum frog on or just under the surface. You'll get a hit... the more the weed, the higher the chances... look around the edges you'll find them there...

there is another way to actually stalk snake heads, but I don't think I'm oing to post that... if you want to learn how to stalk a snake head, go spend time by the water, get bitten by mosquitoes and sand flies, and maybe then after you have sacrificed enough, will the secret be told to you!!! 8)

PS: Doc... the rod has a wonderful action...tried it out in MP... got my self 4 critters on it ranging from 1.5 kg to 4 kgs... the beer is chilling talk more when we meet!!!
Cheers!

Freshwater shrimps... tiny lil guys about an inch in length... will bite on them as long as you 'twitch' the shrimp... 8)

i'd suggest you keep the shrimps for the evening drinks... the beer is now chilled!!! 8)

any frog, thats naturally coloured with some amount of action will do.
just cast them into a likely patch,
bob it up and down,
slowly retrieve,
reel in the fish.
murrel areas simple as that.
in case there are likley looking weed beds , try a silver coloured spinner on fast retrieve works like magic.
Caught 4 of them this weekend, ost a couple of quite large fish due to forgetfull drag adjustments.
another tip reel in the lure as close to u as possible, the snakehead often follow the lure for sometime before they strike and its really sad to see a big murrel looking up at u,when u've ust taken the spinner out of the water.
If u see a murrel following ur lure, dont change the retirievel speed.
maintain the same rythm, if u slow down they'll stop short.

tight lines.

what make are those?
I was told our south Indian snake heads prefer SOFT frogs, and scum frogs from cabels's are a trifle hard to chew!
I've had all my strikes on 'scum frog' if its froggy, it will work

Hi Aircut,

the frogs look good, but don't just get stuck up on frogs... Snakeheads go for motion... they'll happily take on poppers/plugs and spinners... the good doc also caught one on atta while slowly retriveing it over the bottom!!!

Cheers,
IG
