Paid a visit to Forbes Sagar on Friday with my younger brother. The water has quite high and murky.
Catch:
We caught 1 murrel each and missed a few. Both were around the 1kg mark and released.
Tackle used:
1.) Shimano Nexave rod with Daiwa Regal Xi 2500 Reel, Bait: Scum Frog
2.) Wychwood Rage X-Lure rod with Daiwa Exceler 4000 Reel, Bait: Storm Lures Wild-eye swim shad.

Hi Alexis,
Vasim and some of the WASI guys are there at the moment. They are having a hard time too. The high water and mury water should be ok for rohu though. Thats the way it was in August when i visited last.
Regards
Owen

Hi Owen,
Yes, I was there end of September and it was a washout.. It rained at least 60 % of the time and the water was chocolate brown. This time the water has cleared up but still murky.

Sualeh, yes Forbes sagar is a lake of sorts connected to the Cauvery river thru a canal. It is a good piece of water to go fishing.
Cheers,
Alexis

great going Alex.

Beautiful place and yes Snake heads on Lures is a treat

Our snake head fishing is at the closing point in the Northern parts of Pakistan as its getting chiller by the day. But hopefully things should be better to the southern parts. I am keeping my fingers crossed

Thanks Alex! Forbes Sagar really looks to be a good fishing spot.
Shaphan! Even in south, murrel would be hard to get in Dec and Jan. Another reason that we guys dont catch many murrels is that our techniques are basically carp oriented which are not very productive for murrel fishing. Must resort more to live bait/lure fishing if you want to catch murrel. I have got some murrel fries stocked at a few places this summer 8) would be going after them in next summers
Regards

Was there any damage or trauma to the released fish?

No damage to the released fish Michael. One was released soon after unhooking, the second was photographed and released.
Cheers
