Hi Omi,
what's cooking ?
Go for the rohu / catla / mirgal combination. They will leave each other in peace and give the angler a great time.
Tell me when they are around 10Kg's
Regards
Owen

Omi - It usually depends on the size of the pond/lake and the type of food available at their disposal..
On an average a catla would put on about 1.2kgs a year, a rohu about a kg, a mrigal about 800 gms and grass/silver carps about 600-750gms a year...

One thing to note here is that besides the catla, the rest of the fish would hit the 1.5kg mark within 15 months but then they start growing slowly after that.. The catla on the other hand is a more consistent bugger and puts on an average of a kg or kg-and-a-half year after year !!

Oh forgot about them murrels...

Not a good idea to introduce murrels when you have fingerlings in the reservoir !!
You would be giving the murrels an all-access, all-u-can-eat buffet, free of cost !!

Hi Omi,
Murral shoule be strictly a no no. They will decimate the other fingerlings.
You will need a seperate pond for them. I think you should get in contact with the fisheries dept for fingerlings.
Regards
Owen

You all are full of skhfjdljklf --t. The question was where does one get fingerlings?

At hesseraghatta, you could contact ph. no. 22350078, Dept. of fisheries.
the prices are per 1000.
Common carp 200, grass carp 400, catla 258, mrigal and rohu 240, plus packing charges extra.
At present they have only common carp and you can get the rest during the months of June July. I trust this meets your query. bobbee.
