On a recent trip some fishermen on the Krishna mentioned being "attacked" by one of these, he referred to it by the local name "aheer". I tried to cross question him a bit but he insisted that he was telling the truth and that it was not that uncommon an occurence.Apparently the eel is of great value since slime covering it is used by the local vaids in medicines and the flesh is considered to be an aphrodisiac

Yes you get the morays Rajat. They form a knot when you hook them. The have a real mean bite. They can be eaten but I have not heard of the aphrodisiac qualities, they are reputed to be good for the back/spine. The blood really stinks though.

There seem to be quite a few instances of conger eels attacking divers and even people on the shores. So maybe our fishermen are not exaggerating after all

The Rod is yours Mr. Aloo 2007.

It may take some time I will get it with me with I come over to Bombay and give you an address where you can collect it from.

Dear Aloo,

I am sorry this has taken so long, but I am true to my word. As promised I have left the Rod with Mahseerken in Delhi, I was there last week.

Please PM Mahseerken and pick the rod from him. Let me know if you like it.

Regards,

Bobby
