Hi Gavin, this message has been moved to Coarse fishing since the introduction forum is only meant for introductions.

I use a mixture of rice husk mixed with maida, ground cardamom, water and over ripe bananas as groundbait and hook bait. It works quite well!

I've been storing some supplies in Goa, ready for my visit next February.
I'll be bringing a load more stuff out as well, mainly by a company called Dynamite Baits.

Carp love fishmeal and I'll have boilies and pellets with me.
I'm sure we could arrange an English style tuition session somewhere early next year.

Steve

Hi Gavin,

I tried this out on a lake where we hadn't had any luck for the last 3 years - it finally worked a month ago.

Basically two different paste baits
1.) Ragi paste
2.) Sweet bread and ripe bananas.

we mixed these 2 baits and the fish were at it within half an hour, with my younger brother catching the first 5 fish on rod n line on this lake's history.

i can't tell ya ppl da exact recipe as my uncle prepares ground bait for me, he's been a genius in our region over two decades, his name is abhay, we call him abhay-katla, as he's a katla specialist, he does make them with spices and a flower called MAHUA (in west bengal & jharkhand) with some Mahua liquors...it excells believe me...tried n tested.

Sai - Don't be telling them about alcohol... Have already got them high on the rum and the hooch.. And I haven't even told them about the mahua...
I use mahua as well but in moderations.. It takes a while to prepare but definitely worth effort.. Use a little in the ground bait and as a topping for my bait...
