The lake of late has been producing some serious amount of fish of late, due to the somunt of weeds thats have been cleared and some of the fish that had been taking shelter under the weed banks coming into the main lake.
after an interesting three days of fishing.
owen aditya and i had managed.
2 rohu. 7.5kg and 5 kg
1 mahseer , approx 4 kg.
and
a COMMON CARP , weighing in at 8.5 kg.
all sessions of fishing were after throwing down some ground bait.
both owen and me missed two pretty big mahseer , maybe in excess of 15lb's(given the size off all the fish in the lake), i had mine on the line for a very long time before the fish went under the weeds and straightened out my hook, and owen's fish cut his 20 lb line in less than 2 second's .
the carp however was a big surprise, no one having caught any sizeable specimens ever.
It put up a long drawn out fight and put tremendous strain on the rod.

:D .
for the carp and all my fishing i was using,
rowen 2.7 m rod
Shakespeare alpha graphite 2560p
line- 50lb Berkeley big game braid.
pictures of the carp coming up!!

:D

G8 fishing..... couldnt see the other pics do post them.

Common carp tend to be fast growers. In Pakistan in certain waters they are a menace and out breed and eat all other native species :( :(

Super fish Aaron. When I was there in Feb, there was just too much water hyacinth to be able to fish effectively in the main body of the lake unless you went out in the coracle.
I caught plenty by float fishing in the feeder stream and running down the roadside, mainly Jerdon's Carp and small mahseer. Outrigor had a nice Calabasu and they were waving tails all over the place but feeding on top of the coarse grass that grows up to within half a metre of the surface.

Can't wait to try it again...
