what do you guys prefer?
graphite/fiberglass or my favorite bamboo?
also what weight? 0-10
I prefer a 2wt for trout and an 8wt for everything else
not sure with the rules if it's okay to state a brand?
Most of my rods are home made from blanks either bamboo or fiberglass

Sup TB,

the weight of the gear depends on the waters and the species here.... for some trout streams a 2wt rod is good, while on others its a 4 wt... for mahseer I would not even think of anything under 8 wt!!!

Cheers,

the ideal rod for trout in india is 4-5-6 wt.there are no chalkstreams here.the trout waters are in himalayan streams which are glacier melt and some spring waters.but all are with rocks and boulders.lakes r all high altitude and not conducive for wading.sure u can name the manufacturer or brand.i prefer the new age high carbon modulus as they have more feel and power and r lightweight.bamboo rods r for souvenirs.plus the line for bamboo is not easily available now.2wt rod is mainly for fishing dry flies in a creek.

what about spey/switch rods?.....are they any good for Indian waters?...i have also noticed that these are very long(9ft to 16ft) rods in relation to weight(4,5,6wt..).any good against mahseer?....also, they don't come cheap.
