i read the posts by fellow anglers and the post by doc bhavnagri where he explored the canal networks in the area i also decided to do the same.
now haryana has quite a few canals and i decided to try the head regulator system wherein 4 canals merge. i started casting with what i now feel a superb mulley lure , blue fox size 4 plain silver spinner. my cousin and the locals out with handline for carps were snickering and i was getting a few snide remarks to the tune that these were desi fish not amenable to videshi means.
a tentative bite was followed by another one and i had my first haryana mulley. that shut up the locals and i caught another one in short order.
after that it was a daily ritual and i would land at least one mulley (avg) per day. there were some days when i would get 4-5. i tried all means of catching the critters some of the more profitable ones were
1) borrowing chilwa and attaching it to the spinners treble.
2) on a power worm on a bait holder hook behind a lead egg sinker.
3 ) on tilsan barras.

the catch was that these were all small sized fish and none exceeded the 4 lb mark. that i am sure was due to the constant and heavy netting in practise. another good thing i learned was that huge mangur are found in one of the canals as a hatchery dumps the egggs and dead chickens into it.
pics later as photobucket is acting up.
the important thing is that there is still hope for haryana anglers.

dear frat brother we must target some other species for imran .
mulleys are like trevally and take all lures plus they fight harder than murrel. that is a good enough reason to chase them
