OK guys, if we set up a forum for 12th April in Bangalore, can you suggest a venue?

Perhaps we should get an idea of numbers who want to attend?

I'll chair the meeting, I'll get Dr Mark Everard (redfin) to give a talk on some environmental issue surrounding rivers. We can then have questions from the floor, or perhaps an address from someone from WASI followed by questions.

So, ideas for venue please... [smilie=think2.gif]

Sandeep, I have some hiccups with regard to the gtg. The GC felt that I should address a letter to them and to seek permission to hold the GTG. Jayashree asked me as to who will bear the cost of postage etc etc for sending out the letters. Please clarify this from the GC members or you will be responsible for poor attendence and holding the s--t end of the stick. If Steve have the gentleman in question to come to the gtg then he could address the members there.

Hi,

Have spoken with Steve, in malvalli and his friend Ram, who is in Bangalore. Ram is looking for a suitable venue for the GTG failing which Steve suggested we meet at a bar / pub which will permit us to have a conversation.

The date is April 12th at about 7.30 pm.

Those interested in being present for the GTG should post on this thread.

Regards,

Outrigorsandeep

No problem with me. The only point is dont drag WASI into the forum, keep IA as IA. WASI members would have noticed this that of late there have been no posts on the WASI site. Why? :P

Owen what says you?

This should an IA form meeting if Bops has no objections to the idea.
Its time we met anyway. Venue is the issue.

Owen

Guys this is not a WASI or IA meeting. It's just a get together of anglers that are interested in conserving the fish and habitat that they treasure so much...

Those interested in attending the GTG please post your confirmation here.

I confirm my attendance on April 12th. I may even have one guest, the chief naturalist of JLR, who is keen to know more about the conservation of the Mahseer.

The venue has been decided on. Those interested please land up at 7:00 pm at The Night Watchman pub at the end of Churchstreet. This is opposite the Churchstreet Empire hotel and close to KC Das. Please note that all beverage costs will be paid for by those who order.

Hi Steve/ Bops

It would have been great if this is on a Friday or a Saturday. Getting up early morning on Friday for office after a night in pub is tough.

Steve promised some photography lessons also earlier in some post. Will that also be part of this meeting?

Photography will not be part of this meeting. And this is not your typical pub night! The folks that are meeting are very serious about discussing conservation stuff which does not leave much time for drinking

Hi Guys,

Spoke with Steve a short while ago. Both he and Mark (Red Fin) would be happy if those interested in conservation and sport fishing could attend. It will be a serious GTG though in a pub. We could not find a better location.

The GTG should not be longer than 2 hours including questions from the group. Steve and Mark will probably take an hour. We must be on time at 7.00 pm on April 12th.

Hoping to meet more of the Banglers (Bangalore Anglers) at this GTG

Sandeep

Guys,

Repeating the details given by Bops earlier on in this thread:

- Date: April 12th 2007
- Time: 7.00 pm
- Place: The Nightwatchman Pub on Church Street. This is near K C Das end of the road.
- Approx. time: 2 hours.
- Each one pays for their drink.

Trust all is clear.

Sandeep

Thanks to all those who attended. I really enjoyed the meet, it was good to put faces to names.

As I said, I will post a full transcription of the evening, including my rambles and a condensed version of the general points that were raised.
I will also forward a copy of the transcription to:
WASI, CWS, JLR, Principal Conservator of Forests (Karnataka), Fisheries Dept (Karnataka), Karnataka Pollution Control Board and as many journalists as I can get email addresses for.

Can I once again urge you all to spread the word, and once the transcriptions are out, email those people I have outlined above to show your support.

I would like to post the transcription on a part of the forum where it can be accessed by guests, is that OK Bops?

Once again, thanks for attending and now it's over to you guys to keep up the momentum...

Steve go ahead and create a new topic under the Conservation forum. I will make it a sticky.

The forum is open to guests as well so you can give the link to anyone that's interested.
